Monthly Favourites: The Best Of October

The Best Of October

Hello! Hope you are all doing well! So I have never done a monthly favorites post before. I have always had it in my head to start doing them but for some reason I never have. Also, before anyone tries to tell me that November 9th is too late for me to post an October favorites post - you're wrong! : )

Face Products

L-R: Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation and Concealer, Essence Cherry Blossom Girl Bush, Benefit Cha cha Tint, MAC Select Sheer Pressed Powder

This month I've been trying to use up foundations because I have a drawer full of them. I have been making myself use the ones I don't like too, but in doing this I have actually grown to like one of the ones I didn't like before. I know everyone raves about Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation, but for some reason when I first got it I really didn't like it, it made my skin look bloody awful and didn't last any amount of time on my face at all, though now I think that was because my skin was in awful condition when I first got it and now its improved drastically. So needless to say it was thrown in the back of my foundation drawer and that was that. Until I pulled it out again a few weeks ago and decided to give it another chance, and i'm pleased to say that I am now in love with the stuff! It makes my skin feel and appear so much smoother, even and brightened up and pair it with the matching Healthy Mix Concealer and my skin has pretty much been looking flawless, amazeballs!

For setting my foundation I usually use MAC Mineralise Skinfinish in Natural, but I had my cousin's wedding last week and wanted something with a little more coverage. So I bought MAC's Select Sheer Pressed Powder and I'm really liking this. It's great for those days where I want a bit more coverage without looking plastered in make-up. That being said, I think this may be the cause of some breakouts lately.

Blush wise, I found a lovely one a while ago in Essence's Cherry Blossom Girl Collection. I picked it up when I bought one of their double ended eyeliner pens, reviewed not so long ago here. I hadn't really used this until the last few weeks, but this is a lovely peachy/coral blush that goes on lightly for a lovely subtle flush. Its a great multi purpose product due to the two shades in the compact, I swirl them both together for blush and then use the lighter shade as a highlight which works really well.

I've been pairing the Essence blush with Benefit's Cha Cha Tint underneath if I want to add a bit more oomph to the blush. The two look really pretty together and it's been my favourite way to add colour to my face recently.

Eye Products

L-R: UD Feminine Palette (Old Version), Eyelure Katy Perry Lashes, Benefit They're Real! Mascara, UD 24/7 Liner in Perversion, Revlon Precision Lash Glue

I know the version of Urban Decay's feminine palette that I have is the old version, but honestly I prefer the colours in the one I have to the new one, hence why I won't be buying the newer one. I've been reaching for this most days, it has the perfect shades of shadow in there for putting together a quick and easy eye look that still makes you look put together.

Inside UD Feminine Palette

I wont say too much about my next favourite, as I will be posting about it in the next few days, but I've been really liking Benefit's They're Real! Mascara. It's pretty amazeballs!

When I bought my UD Smoked Palette, it came with a full sized 24/7 Perversion liner. Holy cow! It's amazing! It's the blackest black pencil liner I have ever seen and the lasting power with this is amazing, it lasts most of the day before I have to go near it to re-apply, it's really something else and I think everyone needs this liner in their life!

Now i'm not a big false lash wearer, but for my cousin's wedding I picked up a pair of Eyelure's Katy Perry lashes and they blew me away. I got the most natural pair called Sweetie Pie. They're so beautiful, they really opened up my eyes and I got tons of compliments when I had them on. Will be doing a post on them soon as I was so impressed I think they deserve their own post!

With the Katy Perry Lashes I used Revlon Precision Lash glue, as I hate the stupid little useless tubes of glue that come with eyelashes. The Revlon lash glue is in a league of it's own when it comes to lash glue, its so easy to work with and I had no problems with lashes falling off, it's fantastic!

Lip Products

Top: Strawberry Carmex, L-R: Revlon Lip Butter in Sweet Tart, 17 Lipstick in Barely Blush

I love Revlon's Lip Products, my favourites being their Lip Butters, which I posted about here. Lately I've been wearing Sweet Tart non-stop, you can see swatches in the link posted above.

When I want something a bit calmer than the bright pink of Sweet Tart, i've been using 17's Barely Blush Lipstick. I really love this lipstick, it's been a consistent favourite of mine for a while now, I always get compliments when I wear it so that could be why!

Also now that it is winter, I've been breaking out the lip balms more than usual and my main pick every time is my Strawberry flavoured Carmex. My lips are pretty chapped at the moment and this is doing wonders for them.

Other Favourites

L-R: Nivea Happy Time Body Lotion, Sigma F80 Flat Top Kabuki Brush

I absolutely love the smell of Nivea's Happy Time Shower Gel, to me it's pretty much the best smell in the world, so I was so happy to see that they do a body lotion now! It's the same delicious orange blossom smell, and it leaves my skin unbelievably soft all day long, its brilliant!

Another long time favourite item is my Sigma F80 brush. It's a flat top synthetic kabuki brush that is used to apply liquid or cream foundations. I got this last year from Cloud 10 Beauty and it's been a firm favourite ever since. It flawlessly buffs foundation into the skin, leaving a smooth, streak free, airbrushed finish. Apologies for the dirtiness of the brush in the photo, it's in need of a clean!

So that's it for my favourites for October, i'm already looking forward to posting November's favourites!

Review: Essence Cherry Blossom Girl 2in1 Eyeliner Pen

Hello! This post is going to be a bit of a rant, so it may have a few expletives!
For ages I was looking for a nice brown liquid eyeliner pen and while in the chemist one day I saw that esssence had yet another collection out, which was cutely named Cherry Blossom Girl. I spotted this eyeliner pen and it was brown and double ended! I practically screamed with excitetement in the shop (awkward!) Anyway I went home to play with said eyeliner and proceeded to be utterly dissapointed.

Essence 2in1 Eyeliner Pen in My Little Kimono

At first glance this couldnt be better, an essence eyeliner pen that is brown and is double ended with a thicker end and a thin end? Amazeballs! Thats where that thought got killed. The initial idea of this eyeliner is great, I love the way the thick end gives thick, dramatic lines and how precise and neat the thin end draws. The problem is the formula itself. It goes on well at first and all seems well but it dosent seem to set properly, leaving the imprint of your liner on your eyelid. Thats all well and good, you can just wipe that away, right? WRONG! This liner stains like a mo'fo! It just does not come off! That would be a good thing to have staying power, but this thing litterally tattoos on your lash line and no amount scrubbing seems to fully remove it. It does fade over time, but you really dont want to be scrubbing at your eye area trying to get your eyeliner off, youre just going to end up hurting your eyes and its a well know fact that excess rubbing and tugging on your eye area does nothing good for wrinkles etc. Before anyone says it I know it says that it stains skin and contact lenses and that its semi permanant, but I dont understand why anyone would actually want their eyeliner to stain their skin and be semi permanant?

Thick End

Thin End
Left: Thick End, Right: Thin End

I really love essence but this liner has really frustrated me, I really wish they had done it better because the idea of it is really great. Also its the perfect brown colour I was looking for, I just dont think they executed this well, I personally dont want brown stained eyelids for days after I wear this.
On a brighter note there are some really lovely shades of polish in the Cherry Blossom Girl collection, I just think these liners are a bit of a miss.

Until next time, bye!

Sleek Au Naturel Palette Review and Swatches and Sigma E35 Tapered Blending Brush First Impressions

Today my order from www.cloud10beauty.ie arrived in the post. I ordered the Sleek Au Naturel i-divine palette and a Sigma E35 Tapered blending brush. These are two items i've been wanting for forever, I've been hmmming and hawing about the palette since it came out because I have so many neutural eyeshadows including Urban Decay's Naked palette and I just didn't think I needed it, but I saw a few swatches on other blogs recently and decided it was different enough from my naked palette to warrant me buying it! I've wanted the E35 brush for the past year, but any time I've gone to order it from the site it's been out of stock, so hooray! I finally have it!

Sleek Au Naturel i-Divine Palette

The picture above is of the outside of the palette, thought i'd stick a picture of it in the post, as Sleek have changed their packaging recently, and I have to say, while I had no problems with the old look, I do prefer this new look more, it looks neater and less in your face.

Au Naturel Palette Shades

The shades in the palette are a mix of light and dark shades, made up of mostly beige, browns and purple shades. There are 8 matte shades and 4 shimmer shades. As usual, the shadows are buttery smooth and really easy to blend. Sleek have also got rid of the 'waffle' design on their shadows and they are now just pressed flat, and there seems to be less fall out with these compared to their other shadows that I own.

Left Side Of Palette

So the photo above is of the left hand side of the palette, the descriptions of the shades are from left to right, starting with the top row:

Nougat a matte white shadow. Feels really creamy and easy to blend. Pigmentation isn't great in this one.

Nubuck is a  matte grey shadow with the slightest lilac undertone to it. Again a really buttery consistency, but not very pigmented at all.

Cappuccino a light beige matte shadow. Great flesh coloured all over lid colour. This one is lacking in pigmentation also.

Conker a shimmery brownish purple. This is a beautiful colour, one of my favourites.Amazing colour payoff with this one.

Moss is not the deep green colour you would expect. It is more of a brown shadow with a hint of shimmery olive green thrown in, still very beautiful and another of my favourites in the palette. Great pigmentation here too.

Bark a lovely deep matte brown. Great pigmentation, perfect for smudging along lash lines and to deepen the crease, great payoff.

Swatches of left side of palette

I know in the swatches it looks like I have only swatched the darker shades on the left side of the palette, but i assure you that above the shades that are visible, I really heavily swatched Nougat, Nubuck and Cappuccino and they just did not show up at all. So what you can see on the bottom are from left to right Conker, Moss and Bark. Cant tell you how disappointing the lighter colours in this palette are turning out to be.

Onto the right half of the palette...

Right half of palette

Again descriptions and names will be from left to right, starting with the top row.

Honeycomb is a matte beige shade (though it looks white in the photo) it's a little yellower toned than cappuccino. The pigmentation on this one is a little better than the other light matte shades, but still nothing to shout about.

Toast is a peachy, orangey matte shadow. I cant see myself using this one all that much as I think it may be a bit too orange for my pale Irish skin, but i'd say this would be a great all over lid colour for more tanned girls. This one has the best pigmentation of the light matte shades but its still someway off Sleek's usual pigmentation standards.

Taupe is a light shimmery champagne colour with hints of brown and peach. I do really like this one, probably my favourite out of the bunch but I wouldn't call it a taupe. If you compare it to MAC's satin taupe this really is a champagne colour, however it is a beautiful eyeshadow none the less!

Mineral Earth is an awesome shimmery deep brown. It's what soil would look like if there were glitter in it! Great pigmentation with this shade and it really is one of the best in the palette.

Regal a matte deep purple. I don't own too many purple eyeshadows and this one is just beautiful. Can't wait to use this one in a smokey eye. Fantastic payoff with this shade.

Noir is Sleek's famous matte black. I have always loved the black shades in these palettes but is it just me, or has Sleek's repressing of their shadows made this one even more amazing!? It definitely seems extra dark to me compared to the other black shadows I have from other Sleek paletttes, this one is so amazing!

Swatches of right side of palette

As you can see from the swatches the light mattes aren't great again, but are showing up a little compared to the other ones but they're still not great. So not happy with the light matte shades and that is mostly the reason for me buying the palette in the first place. However I do really love Taupe (last swatch, top row) even if it isn't really a taupe shade.

So even though this isn't my favourite Sleek palette because of those dud matte shades, there are still some amazing deep purples and browns and get a load of that black! So to some it up, I kind of love and hate this palette at the same time, and I am determined to make myself fall in love with those light matte shades and I will make them work!

I don't think the Au Naturel i-Divine should be written off for those of you who want it, I am still very glad that I purchased this as the quality of Sleek's shadows is top notch and you get a lot for your money, this is a great way of dipping your toe into the whole neutural/naked craze that has been so popular for the last while, especially if funds are low and you cant afford to splash out on Urban Decay's Naked or Naked 2. In my opinion, the Au Naturel palette may actually be more versatile than the Naked palette as there are more matte shades, so if you already have Naked and are lusting after the Au Naturel too, they're different enough to warrant owning both of them.

So, marks out of 10 for Sleek's Au Naturel palette? 6.5/10
Purely because the majority of the palette is made up of those light matte shades that just aren't good enough.

Now just a quick initial first thoughts on the Sigma E35....

Sigma E35 Tapered Blending Brush

I have a fair amount of eye brushes. At the minute I'm using the Real Techniques eye starter kit, which is great, but I have small eyes and the crease brush is just too massive for me to use so now I have this to try! It seems like its the right size for my eye, I haven't actually used it yet so I cant say for sure yet. The tapered shape means that I'm going to be able to get right into my crease which I haven't been able to do with the real techniques brush, so now if this one works this will be my crease brush and the bigger real techniques crease brush will be used for blending out harsh edges.
The bristles on the brush are super soft so I cant see it pulling on my skin on my eyes so I have high hopes for this brush and will post my thoughts on it soon, as well as some EOTD posts using my Au Naturel palette!

Sorry for the long post guys, just wanted to include the palette and the brush in one post seeing as I got them together.

Talk soon!

Rimmel Flash Eyeliner Pen

Hi Everyone!
I wasn't looking for another liquid liner but I came across this and I was intrigued. I'm not really a fan of the eyeliner pens, I prefer liquid types but this was half off so I decided to try it.
It says that its a precision felt tip liquid liner. The tip of the pen is really pointy, allowing you to make a thin, precise line and gets you right into the lash line. You can also create thicker lines by building up or by using the side of the pen. The felt tip part of the pen is really flexible, making it easy to do your eyeliner in a single stroke, and its also super easy to do flicks and cat eyes with the pen.
The only bad things about this pen is that it smudges, super badly. I literally put this on, let it dry (even though its not really overly liquid) and I go to curl my eye lashes and the liner fades from the curlers touching it even though it was dry, so as soon as you have your mascara on you have to go over the liner again. Also if you touch your eye in any way while your wearing this, you're pretty much screwed. It will flake off. It also does that ugly transferring to your lid stamp effect if you're in a hot place, so this wouldn't be one for clubs or the like!
I do like this pen just because its so easy to work with, but I hate the fact that I'm constantly worrying if my eyeliner is still intact, so if you're like me and are a freak about not having any of your make up smudging and also hate re applying, you mightnt like this pen, because as I have discovered, no matter what I do to try and stop it, it will come off!
This eyeliner would be perfect if they just sorted that out! I got this for €3.50 because it was on promotion, not sure of the normal price. I'm not a hundred percent sure that I will buy this again, but when it runs out I will keep the pen to use for applying other liquid liners because it makes it so easy.
Thanks for reading and take care!

ELF Duo Eye Shadow Cream

Elf Duo Eye shadow cream Left: Butter Pecan Right: Sugar Cookie

These little babies are awesome!!

I can't blow Elf's trumpet anymore than I have already. Elf are a fantastic brand, and I am a huge fan! Their products are really a bit hit and miss. These Duo Eye shadow creams are one of their products that have gotten mixed reviews in other blogs i've read, but I really like them.
First thing I like is the price they're only €1.70. They really could charge more for these seeing as you get two different shades of cream shadow in one pot.

Sugar Cookie
The first one I have, which is my favourite of the two is Sugar Cookie. This has a light pink shade and a golden one. They didn't swatch too well because they are so light and because my skin is so ghostly looking that they don't show up great on my hand...so sorry about that!

Sugar Cookie Swatch Left: Pink shade, Right: Golden shade

Butter Pecan

The second one I have is the Butter Pecan one, and I haven't used this one as much as Sugar Cookie but it's still really pretty! It has a dark brown shade that has a goldness to it and the lighter side is a hard one to describe, its kind of a brown/pink/peachy/gold colour.

Butter Pecan Swatch Left: Darker Brown/Golden shade Right: Lighter Peachy/Pink/Brown/Gold shade

Now onto what I think! These are really creamy, blendable and quite pigmented. They're so easy to work with and you can wear the colours alone or together. I usually use them if i'm in a hurry for just a quick wash over my eyelid. I mostly use these under eye shadow of similar colours, they really brigten powder shadows of similar shades, make them last longer too, so if you use a primer AND one of these before a powder shadow, you're going to get some seriously long lasting vibrant eye looks.
Also bot sides of  the Sugar Cookie Duo make great highlighters! I bring the Sugar Cookie one with me when i'm travelling because I'm scared of breaking my Benefit Highbeam so this is a good alternative to that or for just saving space in your make up bag! I also want to try the black liquorice duo, im thinking maybe the dark side of that would make a good liner? Has anyone tried that with the black liquorice one before?

Thanks for reading and take care!

Review: Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion

Hello!

I am so sorry I haven't posted! So annoyed with myself! Had a lot of things going on again this week, but life has slowed down long enough for the moment for me to turn my attention back to the blog!

I have been meaning to do a review on this for a while now, don't know why I haven't done it sooner, because it's really one of my favourite things in the world!

Urban Decay Primer Potion

Ahhhh! I love this stuff! It's so good! I've been using it for a few years and it really is the best eyeshadow primer i've come across. I know people think it's a waste of time and money buying a shadow primer, but personally I have to use it, I have oily eye lids, so everything I put on there just seems to slide right off so with a good lid primer that dosent happen. Shadow primers also bring the colour of brighter shadows out more and stops creasing, so I think everyone should use an eye shadow primer!

Primer Potion with lid screwed off

The first thing i'll say is this is my first time trying the new packaging of the primer potion, (It used to have a doe-foot wand, kind of like a lip gloss wand) and it was so hard to get all the product out of there but now with this squeezy tube it's made it so much easier to use and you also get 10 percent more product...Yay!

Primer Potion Swatched

Primer Potion Blended

So basically when you squeeze a bit of this out, it looks like a creamy concealer, but it blends to nothing so dont worry about having weird coloured eyelids! Then you let it set for a few minutes and put your eye shadow over it.

Top of hand: Shadow without Primer Potion, Bottom of hand: Shadow over  Primer Potion
In the picture above, you will see two shadow swatches, one without a primer potion base, one with. The swatches are of the same shadow, a metallic blue shade. The difference in colour when using the primer potion is obvious. The swatch over the primer potion is more a vibrant blue, while the one without the base is dull and almost black looking in colour. So it's obvious it brings out the colour of your shadows better. As for making them long wearing and non-creasing, trust me it does both! I get through a whole day with my eyeshadow intact and still looking pretty good after hours of wear, with no creasing at all!

I really can't live without my primer potion! Only problem is that it's €19.50, seems like a huge rip off, but when you try it and see how good it is, you can kind of justifiy spending that much money on this! I got this at the Urban Decay counter in Debenhams in the Ilac center (I think!) in Dublin, but every Urban Decay counter will have it, there are also a range of shades, I haven't tried the others, so I am not sure how they work but the one I use is the original one and works for every colour of eyeshadow, so I would be more inclined to get this one!

NYC Liquid Eyeliner Review

Oh my word! My shelves look dusty in this photo! Sorry about that! :-/ lol

Anyway! I picked this up yesterday in one of my local chemists, it was €2.99. I've been looking for a liquid liner with a fine tipped brush like this for a while. I know rimmel has a good one, but I dont like the brush on it, its a bit too long for my liking and I wanted a bit of a shorter brush for more control. So I found this and thought I had nothing to loose getting this seeing as I had a load of change in my pocket! So I was playing around with this today and did two looks

Defined
Cat Eye

This liner is your basic liquid liner, it does what it's supposed to. What I like is how easy it is to control, as I have pretty shaky hands. I usually apply liner in short strokes, but I was feeling brave today and did one big sweep of the brush over my lashline. Which I don't like doing with liquid liners usually because I get them everywhere, but this just glided on so easily in one stroke, I think it's because the brush is a bit shorter than normal. Staying power is good, I acidentally fell asleep in my make-up last night and the liner was still there this morning!

So all in all, a pretty good liner if you don't want to break the bank, and it's just as good as the Rimmel Liquid Liners, and even cheaper! So I do recommend this!

A
Also a non-beauty related mini post!

I thought I would mention that I got some Galaxy Caramel Cake Bars in the shop yesterday - honestly, these are yummy! Can't stop eating them! They're so good!

Maybelline Eye Studio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner

First of all I want to apologize for how messy my eyeliner looks in the packaging, i didn't realise how bad it looked until had uploaded the photos to my laptop and when I was trying to take more to make it look better, my batteries died and I haven't any more lying around right now, so these will have to do!
As you can tell from the above photos I have had this for a while and have used it lots. Before I got this gel liner, I had been using the older Essence gel liners, I think it was under their Most Wanted range, but that one really put me off gel liners, it was hard to work with and I vowed i wouldn't get another again. But then Maybelline brought out this little gem!
This liner claims to be highly pigmented, oil free, smudge proof, waterproof for up to 24 hours, safe for sensitive eyes and contact lens wearers. It's a really creamy liner, very black, actually the blackest gel liner i've ever seen. It goes on like a dream, this is so easy to work with, it just glides on so easily, and it really is as black on your eyes as it looks in the littlepot. The liner also comes with a brush. The bush is okay, but I prefer to use an angled liner brush when i'm using this, as you get a cleaner line from it, in the pictures below, I have applied it with the brush that comes with it so you can see how it makes it look.

The look it gives with the brush is okay, but using an angled liner brush just makes it look a little neater. You can use this liner to just define your eyes like I have above, or you can do some sexy, dramatic, winged or cat eyeliner.
The only thing with this that's not so good about this is that after an hour or so of wearing it, the liner can transfer to the middle of your eye lid with that awful upsidedown almost "stamp" of the shape this is in on your lash line. So the best thing to do with this is to place a small amount of a completely matte shadow over this on your lash line to set it, and that way you won't get the stamp on your lid.
Over all, I think this is a great liner. It's similar to the MAC Fluid line, but a lot cheaper! I got this in Boots when it first came out, and it was €13 I think, it may have gone down a bit in price by now because it has been out a while. So if you're looking for a good gel liner that is easy to work with, this is great.
Also thought I would mention that the eye shadow i'm wearing in the photos is from the Urban Decay Smoke Out kit that I reviewed the other day.

Thanks for reading and take care!

Urban Decay Smoke Out Eye Kit

This is something I bought a while back and though I liked it, I had other products that I liked more, and it really just got pushed to the side. I recently picked it up again though and i've started using it a lot. I'll tell you about what it has in it first of all. The packaging is so cool, I love quirky make-up products,it just gives it a little something extra and makes it more special, and this is definatley quirky which is really what drew me to it in the first place. It has 4 sections that are sitting on some kind of hindge that allows you to swivel each section around 360 degrees, and each section has it's own products.
The first section swivels around to reveal 4 shadows. There is a matte white shade for highlighting, a matte nude shade, a mid tone brown shade with some shimmer, and a dark brown shimmer shade.
The white highlighting shade ( which is on the far left of my hand before the brown shades start ) didn't show up at all really on the swatch because it is so light. These shadows are great, they're really pigmented and easy to put on. They feel kind of satiny to touch and feel great on your eyelids too. The staying power of these is great too, i've tried wearing them just on their own and with a primer underneath and while they did fade a bit without primer, they still looked good at the end of the day. The great thing about this kit is that the browns are subtle enough to do an neutural everyday eye look, but they build up into a great sultry smokey eye too, and they don't look as harsh as some other smokey eye kits do. The only thing with this section of the kit is that I wish there was more of these shadows than there is, because I really like them. There's also a mirror on the section that covers this that flips around, so that's pretty handy too.
The next section of the kit has a mini shadow brush that isn't great for applying the shadow to the eye lids in my opinion, but I find it is good for lining the lash lines with darker shadows as it really gets close into the lashes because of the shape. There's also a mini version of the 24/7 Glide on eye pencil here too, which I LOVE. When I wasn't really using anything else in this kit I was using this liner, it's awesome. It's a really black, dramatic liner, and it's also water proof so it's fantastic for lining the lower water line, and also for tight lining (which is lining your upper water line) So if you're not fond of the rest of this kit, this will probably be the best part of the kit for you, because it was for me at first.
The last little section of the kit has a mini version of the Skyscraper multi benefit mascara. This mascara is great. It really lengthens my lashes which are pretty short, a few coats of this and my lashes seem to be twice the legnth they are. The tube is pretty cool looking too. I would love to get the full sized version of this, but unfortunatley I have never come across anywhere over here that sells much of urban decay's products, so if anyone knows of anywhere in Ireland that does sell lots of their stuff please let me know in the comments!
I also forgot to mention that there is a little pull out drawer that has a little instruction book on how to do a great smokey eye. This kit is well worth getting, especially for those who don't have much make up as you can do a lot with this, it's also great for putting in your handbag too.
I got this for €20, not sure how much it is supposed to cost, as I got this in a brilliant chemist that we have in Cavan town that gets in random items from higher end brands and sells them pretty cheaply most of the time. So normally this could cost a bit more, but I really don't know to be honest. Even if this does cost a few euro more, it's a great little kit and is worth the money.

Thanks for reading and take care!

Maybelline The Colossal Cat Eyes Mascara Review

The Brush:

My Lashes after applying 3 coats:

Hmmm. This stuff dissapointed me hugely. I had seen reviews of this and it looked really good, pictures of it after it had been applied looked pretty impressive. Before putting this on, I curl my eyelashes for a good 30 seconds, with a normal curler and a mini curler to get the corner lashes, this left my eyelashes with a really nice curl. Then I started putting this on. I like to usually put 2 or 3 coats of mascara on, so I started off with one, this was okay, the curl stayed there but lost a bit of it's curl, but that's okay because that happens a lot to me because I have very straight eye lashes anyway. I put a second coat on and it started clumping and weighed down my lashes so much that they practically went straight again. I was pretty annoyed and decided to do another coat anyway just to see if I could get rid of the clumps and maybe make it look a little better...it didn't work.
As for the full lashes and the "feline" look you're supposed to get - I really don't see it at all.The Volum' Express mascaras are supposed to be volumising and give you fuller lashes, but this one actually made mine look longer. The only thing I like about this mascara is the packaging. I think if the mascara formula was a bit drier then it would be much better than it is.
I got this in Boots and it was €11. I wouldn't by this again and would go for some of the other Volum' Express mascaras that Maybelline have.

Thanks for reading and take care
