Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter Review And Swatches!

L-R Peach Parfait, Sweet Tart, Strawberry Shortcake
and Cotton Candy

Hi everyone!

I know I haven't posted for a long time, but I don't think there's a better way to return to posting on my blog than with a post about Revlon Lip Butters!
Lip Butters won't be a new thing to anyone in the States, but here they haven't been out very long. They hit Irish stores (or were supposed to) in March, but displays are still yet to pop up in a lot of places and they are very small displays all with a limited amount of the shades available. I have had the ones I have for a while thanks to the nice lady in Superdrug in Santry who let me buy them before they were on display, so I've really tested them out a lot the last month and I have plenty to say about them!

First of all, incase you don't know what Lip Butters are, they are a hybrid Lipstick/Lipbalm product, that goes on sheer but can be built up to a more full coverage lip colour. They feel like a balm, have the colour of a lipstick and a little shine like a gloss. They claim to boost lip hydration by 156% because of ingredients like mango, shea and coconut butters.

The packaging is cute. They come in packaging similar to the regular Revlon Color Burst Lipsticks. They have the same quilted design, but instead of being just plain old black, the colour of the packaging matches that of the actual Lip Butter itself! Not a huge deal, but I think it's a nice touch! Theres also a little window on the top of the Lip Butters, so you can see what the colour of the lipstick is actualy like, I like this feature and wish that other brands will adopt this to their lip products.

Here are the four shades that I have in my Lip Butter Collection:

Peach Parfait

I was quite surprised by this one. It's not what I expected it to be at all. This is the shade Emma Stone wears in the advert for Lip Butters, in the advertisment it looks like a matte really peachy shade. In real life however it's more of a pink shade that has golden shimmer through it. On the lips it comes out as a your lips but better shade, and not the bright peachy colour it appears to be in the adverts. I was dissapointed that it wasnt what I was expecting it to be, however this is probably my favourite of the four shades I do have, as its just a fuss free everyday shade that you don't need to worry about applying perfectly, it's a swipe and go kind of shade. The shimmer in this is very subtle on the lips which was surprising as it really looks like it is going to be anything but that when you look at the actual Lip Butter itself.

Sweet Tart

Sweet Tart is a beautiful, bright and what I would consider to be Barbie pink. It's definatly an eye catching colour on the lips and though its bright it is still quite a wearable pink, so much so that it dosent look rediculous even on really pale skin like mine. Really pretty shade and my favourite of the three pinks I have. There dosent seem to be any shimmer or anything in Sweet Tart, it's just straight up creamy colour that packs a big punch.

Strawberry Shortcake

On me, Strawberry Shortcake is a medium baby pink shade. It's nothing too flashy, it's just a nice, safe soft pink that works well with my skintone. This is another favourite of mine for everyday use. It looks to have a tiny amount of shimmer in there but it dosent really show up on the lips. If you're looking for a nice every day pink lip colour, this one could be for you.

Cotton Candy

Cotton Candy is a pale pink with a purple undertone, which, like Peach Parfait, has golden shimmer running through it.On the lips it comes off as a nice, wearable nude pink shade. This one would go great with a smokey eye, or just as a nice pink nude lip for an everyday basis if it was worn sheer.

Swatches L-R: Peach Parfait, Sweet Tart, Strawberry Shortcake
and Cotton Candy

So far I'm impressed with Revlon Lip Butters, and I belive that they are completely worth all of the hype that has been made over them. They're moisturising, easy to use, feel great on and have buildable colour. I can see these being great for people who have difficulty using lipsticks or for those who are too afraid of using them. I think theyre also great for people like me that dont particularly like trying daring colours to ease you into them, personally I never would have picked up a colour like Sweet Tart before because i'd have thought it was too daring for me, but because of the fact that you can build these up from sheer to heavier coverage is great for easing you into getting more comfortable with brighter lip colours.Saying that though, you do need to remember that these little beauties can really pack a punch colour wise so less probably is more with a lot of the brighter shades.
These have become my go to lip product, and now i'm just waiting for bigger displays to come out so that I can add more to my collection!

Believe me when I say - your lips need these!
